SCHEDULE AND PRICES

For 2023 we will be running the guided rides Monday to Friday, we will be closed at the weekends and public holidays. All rides will start at 09:30 at the shop. The rides are either 2.5 hours (up to 25km) or 4 hours (up to 45km), both options will have a cafe stop! Gravel rides are 4 hours and usually a longer distance.

We have a fleet of Polygon Siskiu D6 full suspension bikes for our guided mountain bike rides - the bikes, helmets, choice of pedals and water are all included in the price.

Prices

2.5 hour ride - 45 euros

4 hours - 70 euros

Summit to Sea - 100 euros

All equipment and cafe stop included (electric bikes extra as below)

E-BIKES

We now have front suspension e-mtbs that are suitable for the beginner and intermediate routes. They really help with the cliff ride! They cost an additional 10 euros for the 2.5 hour rides and 20 euros for the 4 hour rides. We do not use the bikes for the Summit to Sea ride, the full suspension bikes are much better for that.

Summit to Sea (only available on Wednesdays)

You will be driven to the highest point of the Algarve in our 4x4 backup vehicle, where we buy you a coffee and enjoy the spectacular views before starting our 40km ride to the edge of the ocean. You will descend down the mountain on a mix of old dirt roads and single tracks, at the base of the mountain there is a break for lunch before following a river valley down to the ocean where you will ride along some stunning, flowing single track trail to take us right to the ocean's edge. The total distance is around 40km with 400m climbing and over 1,000m descending! This ride is ideal for good riders looking for an easier day, or a beginner with good off road bike skills looking for more of an adventure. Our 4x4 backup vehicle is with us all day. We do have a minimum of two people to run this ride, please contact us with your available dates if you are on your own so we match you with our other bookings. The maximum group size is five.

Travel by Gravel

The Algarve is a dream location for gravel bikes, our tours are all about adventure. Gravel bikes are everything we love about riding bikes, they are simple, honest machines that can go on any surface, it is this type of riding that made us fall in love with riding 40 years ago! You will get to see so much more of this stunning location on these bikes and they will challenge your skill is a whole new way. If you already have the bug then you know, if you haven't been gravel riding yet, come try it with us.

Trail rides

We have a range of trail rides to suit both novices and experts in either 2.5 hours (up to 25km) or 4 hours (up to 45km).

Please see the trail rides below for descriptions of our routes.

The maximum group size is eight for scenic routes and six for intermediate or expert.

When you contact us let us know if you want to ride for 2.5 hours or 4 hours and which ride option, we can then let you know what routes we have planned for your dates

Our trail ride options are:

  • Scenic - Routes that are ideal for novice riders, families or someone wanting to see the sites away from the town without to much climbing.

  • Intermediate - Ideally suited to a regular mountain bikers, the routes have plenty of single tracks linked by dirt roads and cliff paths. The 4 hour route will have around 500m climbing in 40km.

  • Expert - You will need to be an experienced rider for this with good leg strength and fitness. Much more technical routes with steep, loose rocky climbs and descents. The 4 hour route will have around 1,000m climbing in 40km.

Family cliff ride

This ride is an easy scenic ride with the minimum amount of climbing possible. We leave from our shop on quiet paved roads that lead to an easy climb to the highest point on the ride, we follow dirt roads to a pretty beach town called Burgau then head back along the stunning cliffs. We can stop for a drink/ice-cream at a cafe in Burgau. This route is around 14km long with 150m climbing total. It is a firm favourite for our family with our daughter!

Cliff top tour

This is very popular ride taking in some of the most spectacular views around Lagos from the top of the cliffs. We ride from our shop to see the famous cliff formations then ride to the highest point locally which over looks Praia da Luz where you can see all the way to Sagres. There is a fun, fast descent or a steady decent to the beach depending on how adventurous you feel! We stop at a cafe on a beach before returning along the cliffs to Praia da Luz. This a 2.5 ride around 18km long and is a scenic route.

South Coast

This is a great ride starting from our base in Praia da Luz. We head out along the stunning South Coast following lots of hidden single tracks we have built between the villages along the cliffs. As the coastline is much cooler in the summer and because we have been able to build and link so much single track on the South Coast, this route is by far our most popular ride. On the four hour ride we ride out to Lagos and then along the coast to Burgau in the national park where we loop back to our shop along different trails. Our 2.5 hour version goes to Lagos before we turn back to Praia da Luz, we stop at a cafe on both rides. We can customise this route to be either intermediate or expert.

Barao Valleys

For this route we start from our shop. We ride a mix of dirt roads and single tracks that link up various inland villages. We head out to a village to stop at a cafe before heading out along more single tracks, we then ride through the forest using hidden trails we have built before heading back down a valley to where we started. This can be a 2.5 or 4 hour ride, either scenic or intermediate level

Super Coast

This is a four hour ride only route and is expert level. Our usual route is 45km with over 1,000m climbing. The climbs are tough, often over loose rocks and steep, the rewards are equally challenging descents down valleys or ridge lines to hidden beaches. Our cafe stop is in Salema. The views on this route are nothing short of spectacular as all the ride is in the national park.

Canal Ride

Our Canal ride starts from Praia da Luz and winds out through the Algarvian countryside following the irrigation canals the farmer use to water their crops. Our cafe stop is in is in Bensafrim. Our usual route is around 50km long with 500m climbing, there are long stretches of very fast easy single track on this route, it is only available as a four hour ride, it is an intermediate route.
